Our Story
Because your car isn't just a way to get from A to B.
We reckon looking after your car should be something you enjoy, not something you need a degree in.
Most of us know someone who treats their car like a member of the family. Washed every Sunday. Parked at the far end of the car park. Wiped down before anyone's allowed to lean on it. It might be a Commodore they've had for fifteen years, a ute that's never let them down, or the first new car they've ever bought. It doesn't have to be expensive to matter.
Somewhere along the way, protecting your paint got complicated. Ceramic coatings went from something only detailers talked about to something everyone's heard of, but the advice that came with them was confusing: dozens of products, endless videos and a lot of jargon. Plenty of people who'd love to do it themselves decided it was too risky to try.
The Good Car Co. is our answer to that. We're starting with one thing and doing it properly: a DIY paint protection kit that brings the right products together, explains every step clearly and sets realistic expectations about what a coating will and won't do.
How we work
We work with specialist manufacturers and test every product ourselves, on real cars, before it goes in the box. If it isn't easy for a first-timer to get right, it doesn't make the cut.
We write our instructions for people doing this for the first time, and we film the video lessons in an ordinary driveway with ordinary gear, because that's where you'll be doing it.
What we believe
- Honesty. No made-up claims, no fake reviews, no inflated "was" prices.
- Simplicity. Clear instructions written for people, not professionals.
- Pride. There's real satisfaction in a car you've looked after yourself.
- Support. Questions before, during and after are welcome.
Where we're heading
The coating kit is the start. Over time we'd like to offer the other things you need to look after a car properly, from shampoos and drying towels to maintenance sprays. We'll only add a product when it's genuinely ready.
