Who it's for

A good fit if you…

  • Wash your own car and enjoy doing it properly
  • Like the idea of a ceramic coating but would rather do it yourself than pay for professional application
  • Have paint with an intact clear coat (new, or older and well kept)
  • Can set aside a few hours somewhere shaded and sheltered

Be honest with yourself

Look elsewhere if you…

  • Need scratches, swirls or faded paint fixed (that's paint correction)
  • Want protection from stone chips (look at paint protection film)
  • Have matte paint, a vinyl wrap or PPF
  • Can only work in full sun with no shelter

Before you start

Preparation and conditions

Good paint protection starts with good preparation. The coating bonds to what's underneath, so the paint needs to be clean, decontaminated and free of old wax or sealant.

A coating also locks in the paint's current condition. If there are swirls you'd like gone, polish first (by machine, or have it done) before you coat.

You'll need shade, shelter from wind and rain, and a dry spell for curing. The temperature and humidity range is printed on the directions in the kit.

Looking after it

Wash regularly with a pH-neutral shampoo and the two-bucket method, dry with clean microfibre, and avoid automatic brush car washes. Full aftercare guidance comes in the kit.

What a coating won't do

A coating won't remove scratches or stop stone chips, and it isn't a substitute for regular washing. We'd rather you know that before you buy.

Safety information and documents

Full specifications, the Safety Data Sheet and application directions are published here when the kit goes on sale.

Always read the label and directions before use.

What is a ceramic coating?

A ceramic coating is a liquid protective layer that you apply to clean, prepared paint. As it cures, it bonds to the clear coat and forms a thin, hard-wearing layer on top.

In everyday terms, it helps the paint stay glossy, makes dirt and grime easier to wash off, and causes water to bead and run off more readily. It's a step up from a traditional wax in how long it tends to last, though how long any coating lasts depends on the product, the preparation and how the car is looked after.

Is this suitable for beginners?

That's exactly who it's for. The kit brings the compatible products together, and the printed instructions and video course walk you through each stage in order.

It still takes patience and care. Preparation is the biggest part of the job, so set aside a few unhurried hours and a spot out of direct sun.

What's included in the kit?

The kit brings together the ceramic coating, compatible preparation products, applicators, suede cloths, microfibre towels, printed instructions and access to the video course.

The full list is on the product page.

Can I use it on an older car?

Generally, yes, as long as the paint has an intact clear coat in reasonable condition. A coating protects the finish you have; it won't restore paint that's faded, peeling or oxidised.

If your clear coat is failing, a coating isn't the right fix. We'll include guidance on how to check your paint before you start.

Do I need a machine polisher?

Not to apply the coating. The kit is being designed around a home setup without one.

A polisher is only needed if you want to correct swirls or light scratches before coating. A coating locks in whatever condition the paint is in, so some owners choose to polish first, or have it done. We'll explain the options in the course.

Do I need a pressure washer?

No. A pressure washer can make washing quicker, but a hose, two buckets and a good wash mitt will do the job.

What preparation is required?

Good paint protection starts with good preparation. In broad terms: a thorough wash, removing bonded contamination, then a panel wipe to strip any old wax, oils or residue so the coating can bond to bare clear coat.

The exact steps are set out in the printed instructions and the video course, matched to the coating in your kit.

Is it suitable for matte paint, vinyl wraps or aftermarket finishes?

Don't assume so. Matte paint, satin finishes, vinyl wraps and paint protection film often need products made specifically for them.

The kit is made for standard gloss automotive paint. If your car has a special finish, check with us before buying.
