Sound familiar?

Want to protect your paint, but not sure where to start?

You've heard ceramic coatings are worth it. Then you start looking into it.

There are dozens of products that may or may not work together, videos that contradict each other, and a lot of talk about decon, IPA wipes, flash times and high spots. It's easy to decide it's too risky to try on your own car.

It doesn't need to be that hard. Most of the job comes down to good preparation and following clear directions, one step at a time.

Which products?

Washes, prep sprays, coatings, towels. Knowing what's compatible is half the battle.

Which advice?

Every video does it differently. You want one clear method you can trust.

What if I stuff it up?

Fair worry. Knowing the common mistakes in advance prevents most of them.

Is it worth it?

You want realistic expectations, not big promises.

How it works

Here's the process at a glance. Every kit comes with step-by-step directions written for its coating, so you always know what comes next.

  2. Step

    Follow the instructions

The printed guide and video course take you through each stage in order.

  3. Step

    Apply the coating

Work one small section at a time, following the coating's directions.

  4. Step

    Look after the finish

Let it cure, then keep it clean with gentle, regular washing.

What is a ceramic coating?

A ceramic coating is a liquid protective layer that you apply to clean, prepared paint. As it cures, it bonds to the clear coat and forms a thin, hard-wearing layer on top.

In everyday terms, it helps the paint stay glossy, makes dirt and grime easier to wash off, and causes water to bead and run off more readily. It's a step up from a traditional wax in how long it tends to last, though how long any coating lasts depends on the product, the preparation and how the car is looked after.

Is this suitable for beginners?

That's exactly who it's for. The kit brings the compatible products together, and the printed instructions and video course walk you through each stage in order.

It still takes patience and care. Preparation is the biggest part of the job, so set aside a few unhurried hours and a spot out of direct sun.

Can I use it on an older car?

Generally, yes, as long as the paint has an intact clear coat in reasonable condition. A coating protects the finish you have; it won't restore paint that's faded, peeling or oxidised.

If your clear coat is failing, a coating isn't the right fix. We'll include guidance on how to check your paint before you start.

Do I need a machine polisher?

Not to apply the coating. The kit is being designed around a home setup without one.

A polisher is only needed if you want to correct swirls or light scratches before coating. A coating locks in whatever condition the paint is in, so some owners choose to polish first, or have it done. We'll explain the options in the course.

Will it remove scratches?

No. A ceramic coating doesn't remove scratches, swirls or chips. It protects the paint in the condition it's in. Removing scratches requires paint correction (polishing) before coating.

How long does the coating last?

It depends on how well the paint was prepared, the climate, and how the car is washed and stored.

We only publish durability figures we can back with test results, and we always state the conditions they apply to. Be wary of any coating sold with a big number and no evidence.
